What is Write Well?

Write Well is one of the two bootcamps organized by Tholga to provide you with a solid foundation in writing research.

  • Covers the essentials of research writing, such as structuring an article and writing its components
  • Focusses on improving the standard of one’s writing, through the appropriate use of tense, word choice and sentence structure.
  • Inculcates the habit of writing, by breaking down the writer’s block and understanding the psychology of writing.

What is covered?

Prepare for writing

  1. Learn to read and analyse a paper
  2. Learn to undertake a thorough review of literature.
  3. Understand the components of a research paper.

Three weeks, 90 min of live session each week

Write well

  1. Develop the writing habit.
  2. Learn to connect ideas and write clearly.
  3. Use writing tools.
  4. Use MS Word effectively
  5. Learn to edit your paper yourself.

Seven weeks, 90 min of live session each week

Write to submit

  1. Write an appealing abstract.
  2. Write a compelling cover letter.
  3. Prepare your manuscript according to the target journa’s requirements.

What to Expect?

Murugaraj Shanmugam has 20 years of experience in academic publishing.

 

Live sessions

Live Zoom sessions will be conducted every week, in which new topics will be discussed.

 

Activities for practice

Live sessions will be followed by daily activities during the next week to reinforce learning.

 

One-to-one feedback

Learners will receive one-to-one feedback for the writing assignments to write better.

 

When does the batch start?

This 13-week bootcamp starts on 03 September 2023 and ends on 03 December 2023 and covers 13 crucial elements grouped under the three topics of critical reading, writing and preparing for submission.

Murugaraj Shanmugam

Murugaraj Shanmugam has been part of academic publishing since 2004 in various roles such as copyediting, training and management. He founded Tholga Publishing Services in 2020 with the aim of helping research scholars in successfully publishing their research, through his editorial services and workshops.

In his workshops, Murugaraj talks about research from a publication perspective, discussing the need for critical reading, effective writing and journal selection for research scholars.

Murugaraj has delivered talks or conducted workshops for various institutions such as Madras Institute of Development Studies, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, and Karpagam Academy of Higher Education in Coimbatore.
